Far Moor End is idyllically located in 22 acres of private grounds within the Lake District National Park, just a 5 minute walk from the shores of Ennerdale Water and only a mile from the village of Ennerdale Bridge, with its two pubs. 16 people can be accommodated at Far Moor End and there is plenty of space and rooms to spread out, as well as a fantastic dining room with a vaulted oak ceiling for everyone to congregate in. The estate of 22 acres includes 15 acres of woodlands with paths (please note that the woods are sometimes off limits when there is tree felling or bridge reconstruction), two paddocks of approximately two acres each, a wildflower meadow of approximately three acres. There are also three wildlife ponds and Far Moor End has a long frontage on the River Ehen which is a site of Special Scientific Interest (S.S.S.I.). The grounds surrounding Far Moor End attract an abundance of wildlife, including red squirrels. The unspoiled, tranquil valley of Ennderdale is an ideal starting point for hundreds of walks - from gentle lakeside strolls to energetic mountain hikes (the views of Ennerdale and Buttermere lakes from the high fells are a stunning reward); rock climbing (a good base from which to approach Pillar); mountain biking in Ennerdale forest and fishing in the lake (permit required); pony trekking and Go-karting (available nearby). The market towns of Cockermouth and Whitehaven are only a short distance away and the popular town of Keswick is only half an hour's drive away. The historic village of St Bees is also close at hand with a long pebble and sand beach and its famous cliffs with thousands of nesting sea birds. THE HOUSE The entrance of Far Moor End leads to a large quarry tiled porch, ideal for muddy boots and hanging coats. This leads to the kitchen which is large with plenty of storage space. It is fully equipped with two fridges, a fridge-freezer, dishwasher, microwave and a large four oven aga. There is a breakfast table here making the room feel comfortable and sociable. There is also a utililty room with an additional chest freezer and storage space, iron & ironing board and washing machine. The dining room has a long table which easily seats ten people. From this is a small children's room with a TV to watch DVDs and also to play computer games on (please note, there is no aerial on the TV). The children's den is clearly visible from the dining room so adults can supervise younger children playing in the den whilst they are still seated at the dining room table. The dining room affords views across one of the ponds on one side and the mountains on the other making a splendid backdrop for mealtimes. The sitting room is large with plenty of comfortable chairs. There are radiators supplemented by an open fire (initial supply of wood is provided) and the TV has freeview and DVD player. There is plenty of reading matter and a good selection of walking books and ordnance survey maps which guests are welcome to borrow. Upstairs there are five bedrooms: one kingsized, one twin and three bedrooms which have zip and link beds (either super-kingsized or twin) - please let us know how you would like these beds to be made up. Upstairs there is a shower room and a bathroom with shower above the bath. There is also a fourth W.C with washbasin. Downstairs there is a third bathroom which has a bath and a separate shower cubicle. Outside there is a garden area with garden furniture for sixteen. There are also woodlands and pastures to explore. There are also three wildlife ponds near to the house (not fenced) and a river marks the boundry of the gardens. THE BARN The sitting room is large and is perfect for larger familes or groups. The french doors give access to the gorgeous decking area which enjoys panaromic views across the private grounds, river Ehen and Grike Fell. The decking is in a sun-trap and is a fabulous place to enjoy the peace and tranquilty of this unspoilt part of the world. The sitting room also has three large tables that each seat 6 people. The tables can be arranged in any way to suit your requirements. The utility area in the Barn is a useful addition to the main kitchen which is in the house and separated only by a short corridor. It has an electric cooker, dishwasher, fridge/freezer, and kettle. The Gallery is a pleasant and airy space accessed by stairs located in the entrance foyer. There is a door into the Gallery allowing some privacy and it has twin beds. The bedrooms are fitted with one double and one zip and link (either a twin or a super-kingsize - according to your requirements). Both bedrooms are en-suite with the second bedroom's bathroom also being accessible from the hallway (for people using the gallery bedroom). The bathrooms are en-suite. Each bathroom has a sink, WC and shower. Bedroom Two has a bath as well. Both bathrooms have heated towel rails (from the central heating) and plenty of space.
