In an elevated position amidst totally unspoilt scenery lies High Greenrigg House within the Lake District National Park. Originally a 17thC hill farm, which is now a listed building, it has been tastefully converted to form 2 unique and beautifully crafted cottages. The surrounding countryside is there to explore. On a fine day the views are simply breathtaking and the drone of traffic is but a distant memory and the sunsets can light up the fells with varied hues. There are some lovely walks leading directly from the cottages. The cottages will appeal to those who appreciate the charisma of a bygone age combined with modern amenities and individual attention to detail. Each bedroom has an en suite bathroom or shower room. Some parts of the building have managed to retain several old features, byre stalls, wealth of beams, old high barn doors where hay would have been taken in on the horse and cart, stone stairs, slits in the thick walls which would allow ventilation for the barns and where birds took refuge from the elements. The old farmhouse passage which leads into one of the cottages is dated 1660. This cottage has many original beams and the former wooden byre stalls separate the dining/kitchen from the living room, it is 25ft by 15ft 6ins overall. Old stone stairs lead to the first floor where there are 2 bedrooms, 1 with twin beds, 1 with king-size, 4-poster bed. Both with en suite facilities. Downstairs old passage leads to double bedroom with en suite shower room with larger than average shower with deep shelf in the shower. High Pike cottage has 2 double bedrooms, both with en suite facilities and one of the rooms has a king-size 4-poster bed. Bottle of wine, home-made cake/buscuits, tea and milk are waiting to welcome you by resident owner. High Season Low Season Open All Year, Open at Christmas, Open at New Year Cottage |
