The Thorntons came to Cornhills in 1886, and Richard's great, great grandfather built the present house in 1888. The farm, which is 540 acres, is an all grass stock rearing enterprise.The wonderful Northumberland coast is 30 minutes away; Kielder Water and Hadrian's Wall are even closer. The National Trust properties of Wallington Hall and Cragside are nearby, as is Belsay Hall, Castle and gardens.Cornhills farmhouse stands in 1 acre of garden with outstanding views over open countryside. The house, which is fully centrally heated, has large beautifully decorated rooms with a mosaic tiled hall floor.We have 3 rooms- a twin with private facilities, a twin en suite, and a double en suite. All the rooms have tea and coffee-making facilities, hair dryers and radio alarm clocks. The lounge, with a colour TV is available all day.We serve a traditional English breakfast about 0830, but we are very flexible about the time.
