The accommodation is modern and comfortable with a large garden to enjoy. Holystone village is situated in the Coquet Valley and lies in Northumberland's Natuonal Park. The valley is still rooted in the traditions of the land that has shaped the way of life for centuries. In the surrounding area you will see evidence of the exciting past from hill forts to castles, mysterious wells, stately homes and bronze age relics. Immediatley next to Lady's Lodge, there are a collection of forest walks, with picnic areas, fords and places of historic interest. Further into the valley are the historic villages of Harbottle and Alwinton, with friendly pubs where the locals gather to chat about their daily experiences. Don't miss the unmistakable Northumbrian accent! Beyond Alwinton, lie the Cheviot Hills, a paradise for walkers, or perhaps you would prefer to plunge in the deep pools of the river Coquet. Ten minutes drive from Holystone is the village of Rothbury, the capital of Coquetdale. Whilst there are no chain stores in sight the town boasts of an excellent range of shops, cafes and local pubs. There are also plenty of leisure activities available in Rothbury too. Golf, tennis, fishing and cycle hire can be found as well as some very pleasant walks. Further on (30 minutes drive) visit the historic towns of Alnwick and Morpeth, where you will find markets, leisure centres and restaurants.
