The area is perfect for walking and mountain biking, with a wealth of bridleways and footpaths leading off in every direction, together with some interesting Forestry Commission Nature Trails at nearby Holystone. The Cheviot Foothills are 5 miles further up the valley whilst the small market town of Rothbury is 6 miles to the East. Hepple was once an important stronghold and the remains of a large Pele-Tower still stand at the East end of the village. This is a good central location, for the Heritage Coast, Kielder Water, Hadrian''s Wall and Alnwick Castle and Gardens are all within easy driving distance. Golf course in Rothbury.
