Hawthorn Cottage is a two bedroomed cottage, that sleeps four, located in the farm steading of Scotchcoulthard.
Scotchcoulthard lies 4 miles north of Hadrian’s Wall at its highest point half way between Carlisle and Newcastle. We are located in the beautiful and unspoilt Northumbrian National Park and have 180 acres of upland farm on which our guests are free to roam.

Scotchcoulthard is run as a holiday cottage business with five cottages sleeping from 1 to 7 and is also a working farm. We have Rare Breed animals including pigs, cows, sheep and a few hens.

We welcome children and pets. There is plenty of space for children to play with a tree house and play area. There is a games room with table tennis, a cd player, toys and games where children can make lots of noise and not disturb the grown ups. We also have an indoor, heated swimming pool.

Downstairs, the farmhouse style beamed kitchen has a floor of handmade terracotta tiles, period glass fronted china cabinet and pine table. The kitchen is fully equipped including four ring gas cooker, microwave, washing machine, dishwasher and fridge freezer. The cottage is centrally heated. There is a patio area with extensive views out the back with seats and table for the summer evenings.

The living room is opposite the kitchen with a beamed ceiling. It has two chairs and a sofa around an open fire.

There is a television, DVD/CD player and video.

There are two bedrooms: - a double and a twin both en-suite. Both have baths with showers over. The twin room has a ceiling with timbers, exposed beams and a gallery with a full size single bed above the stairwell suitable for an older child or agile adult. There is a ladder that can be removed out of the way.
