There are wonderful rambles throughout Teesdale and Weardale (an old lead mine is within a 10 minute walk), and cycling, pony trekking, fishing and golf can be enjoyed close by. Hamsterley Forest, High Force waterfall and Raby Castle are easily accessible. Copley boasts a pub serving food and there is a good Thai restaurant in Ingleton, 10 minutes' drive. Shops 2 miles.
