Nestled at the western edge of the Corve Dale, Hazel Cottage commands a view that spreads over undulating countryside of fertile farmland, oak trees and woodland. The outlook is framed by the Brown and Titterstone Clee Hills in the distance and Bringewood Chase to the south. A short distance from the provincial market town of Ludlow, Hazel Cottage is the ideal location from which to enjoy the space and the charms of this perennial, rustic utopia. Part of the Welsh Marshes, South Shropshire spreads north to meet the Stretton Hills, east to the Wrekin, and west to the border of Wales. With Herefordshire and Worcestershire to the south, the area provides an opportunity to explore this unique and varied landscape. Situated by the River Teme, Ludlow is architecturally important, with buildings spanning nine hundred years. It includes a spectacular Norman Castle, The Feathers Hotel, where Henry VIII stayed, the Buttercross and the wide streets flanked by Elizabethan and Georgian town houses. St. Lawrence's, England's largest parish church, dominates the landscape and, unusually, has its own Bishop. The town has, in all, 700 listed buildings. Situated below the Long Mynd, Church Stretton, a touch of Switzerland, and was once a Victorian spa. The small market towns of Bishop's Castle, Much Wenlock and Knighton are steeped in history, while Presteigne, just in Wales, is quite untouched by time. Ironbridge and Coalbrookdale, seat of the Industrial Revolution, must be seen. Hereford, Worcester and Shrewsbury are towns of much interest and should be visited, along with many unspoilt villages. Hazel Cottage is situated off a quiet road, one and a half miles from Onibury and five miles north of historic Ludlow. Originally a small holding, Hazel Cottage was built between 1820 and 1830 of local limestone and is semi-detached.
