Diverse and beautifully kept with plentiful fruit during the Summer, this rural idyll is only five minutes drive from a railway station with routes to London, Birmingham and connections to the West Coast line and ten minutes from the M50 and the rest of the motorway network. The perfect base from which to explore the three counties of Herefordshire, Worcestershire and Gloucestershire, whether you enjoy visiting cathedrals, castles, grand houses, gardens, literary or music festivals or prefer more active pursuits like walking, grass boarding or canoeing, you can do them all from here. Two miles from Ledbury, the prettiest town in Herefordshire with medieval houses and flower-filled streets, we are ideally situated for the Ledbury Poetry Festival, Malvern Garden Shows and Three Choirs Festival. Hereford, Ludlow and Cheltenham Racecourses are twenty five, forty and forty five minutes away respectively. Abergavenny, with the Walnut Tree restaurant is only forty minutes away (though there are excellent restaurants in Ledbury too) and within an hour you could be in Stratford, the Cotswolds, Wales and just outside Bath. Set in the grounds of a C15th hall house, with a private garden and terrace overlooking the carp-filled, iris-fringed moat, Barn Croft has everything to make your holiday memorable. Once a calfhouse and adjoining barn, it is now a five star luxury retreat. The huge principal bedroom has a six foot bed with silk-lined hangings and an ensuite bathroom, while the two downstairs bedrooms, one with king-size bed and one with twin beds both have shower rooms. All have south facing views onto the garden (the downstairs double room has a French window onto the terrace) like the large open-plan sitting room, dining room and kitchen. All are individually designed and decorated with deep, comfortable mattresses, feather and down duvets and Egyptian cotton bedlinen.Hollow-fibre bedding or blankets can be supplied if required. The sitting room, with large picture windows, has the usual TV, DVD, video and CD/radio but also books and games and a comprehensive collection of suggestions for places to visit and things to do, though some people just sit and watch the heron drop in for lunch, or the buzzards, woodpeckers and occasional kingfisher. At dusk, bats fly over the moat in search of their evening meal. We have a pool table and croquet and boules are available during the Summer. Extremely well-equipped, the kitchen has two ovens, ceramic hob, microwave, fridge, freezer, dishwasher, food mixer and blender.
