We are a family run business situated in the beautiful 'Marshes' area, where England and Wales meet, surrounded by superb countryside and many interesting places to visit, both by car and on foot.Our accommodation for Bed & Breakfast comprises a 'family room' which sleeps up to 4 people on the ground floor and an upstairs 'double room', both rooms have adjacent bathrooms and overlook the railway line. We also have a 'self-catering holiday cottage' which sleeps up to 5 people, which we converted from part of the old station buildings.Station House is the original GWR station,built in the 1850's and converted to domestic usr on the closure of the station in the 1960's. Pontrilas Station midway between Hereford and Abergavenny, was once the junction for the Golden Valley Railway to Hay-on-Wye.Station House Offers - For those interested in Railways:* Original GWR station buildings * GWR lower quadrant semaphore signals * passing passenger and freight services on the North & West route from Cardiff/Newport to Shrewsbury/Crewe and the North * Regular delivery of timber for the local sawmills * Superb photographic opportunities * Preserved railways within reach, including Severn Valley, Dean Forest and Brecon Mountain * Nearby traces of the long closed Golden Valley branch to Hay-on-Wye * Plenty of railway interest information (books,videos & photograhs) both past and presentFor the motorist:* Easy access from the A465 Hereford to Abergavenny Road, only 30 miles from the M4/M5 * Good 'B' road access to the Golden Valley, Black Mountains, Wye Valley and the Forest of Dean, and the interesting towns of Hay-on-Wye, Brecon, Momouth and Ross-on-Wye among others. * Many other beauty spots within easy driving distance, included the Brecon Beacons, The Severn Estuary, The Shropshire Hills, The Malverns, Radnor Forest and The Gower Peninsular. * Many beautiful churches including Kilpeck
