Chatsworth has a long history of hospitality, and there is now a wide variety of accommodation on the Chatsworth estate. 

Chatsworth Estate Holiday Cottages are pleased to announce that we are now taking bookings for our latest addition, Manifold Farmhouse, Shottle.

The farmhouse which sleeps 10 is the first phase in our redevelopment of Manifold Farm. Externally, the farmhouse has exclusive access to its own walled garden whilst internally it is beautifully furnished with antiques and equipped to our usual high standard.

Comprising three bedrooms with en-suite shower rooms (two magnificent doubles with four poster beds and one twin), one further twin and one adult sized bunk room with shared bathroom, Manifold Farmhouse is suitable for families and parties of all ages. All of the sleeping accommodation is located on the first floor allowing plenty of room downstairs for entertaining guests.

The farmhouse kitchen is equipped with a traditional range cooker and comes complete with all the modern conveniences such as a dishwasher, fridge freezer and microwave oven. There is a separate utility room with washing machine, tumble dryer, downstairs WC and lots of room for boots and coats.

The living room features an open log fire and with its comfy sofas, colour television, DVD/VCR player and Hifi system allows guests to snuggle up and enjoy those quiet nights in.

Outside the farmhouse has its own spacious garden with well kept lawns, fruit trees, herb bed, garden furniture, barbeque and most importantly of all far reaching views of the most beautiful countryside on all sides.

In addition, there is a games room in a separate barn close by with billiards table, table tennis and separate toddler /child play area.

As with all of our other holiday cottages, electricity, central heating, an initial supply of logs for the fire and all bed linen (except cot linen) with duvets and towels are included within the stated price.

Manifold Farmhouse is situated on the Shottle Estate just south of Wirksworth in Derbyshire on the southern fringe of the Peak District National Park . Shottle has been in the ownership of the Duke of Devonshire's family for over 350 years. Once a deer park, the 3,500 acre estate comprises a group of small family-run farms enclosed within walls and hedges. The farmhouse stands on the western edge of the Estate in a stunning rural location overlooking the Ecclesbourne valley and yet is only half a mile from the B5023 which links to the north with the Peak District and to the south with Derby and the A38 dual carriageway (10 miles) providing a direct link to the motorway network.

The farmhouse has everything that you and your family or a group of friends would need to enjoy a relaxing or indeed active holiday with many attractions and activities available in the area. There is a good network of footpaths on the doorstep and the Peak District just a short drive away is the perfect place for walking, riding, cycling, climbing and caving. Carsington Water is less than five miles away, and offers excellent facilities for sailing and wind surfing. The market towns of Wirksworth, Belper, Ashbourne and Bakewell are all within easy reach. Alton Towers is only 20 miles away.

For bookings of Manifold Farmhouse all guests are provided with a free entrance ticket to Chatsworth House and Garden when open (with a value of £110 for ten adults). Recently voted the country's "favourite stately home," Chatsworth with its 105 acre garden, farmyard and adventure playground, restaurants, gift shops and farm shop, provides a full and exciting day out for all the family. Chatsworth is 16 miles north of Shottle. There are a number of other historic houses and gardens open to the public in the area. Free entrance tickets for a visit to Chatsworth House and Garden when open are provided to weekly bookings.
