Winterton-On-Sea is a quaint, picturesque fishing village, approximately 8 miles north of Great Yarmouth, in the heart of the Norfolk Broads with around 650 houses and 1,500 inhabitants. Do not expect amusement arcades or beefburger establishments in our village, do expect a beautiful sandy beach backed with peaceful dunes, classified as an area of outstanding natural beauty, home to terns, Natterjack toads and the occasional adder, we also have a colony of seals living just off the coast to the north end of the beach, Winterton-On-Sea is an ideal choice of location for bird watchers, walkers and fisherman alike or anyone wanting a peaceful, relaxing holiday. The village has a village store, post office, fish & chip shop, garage, beach cafe and of course, a 300 year old brick and flint pub, "The Fisherman's Return serving local real ales and is included in the Egon Ronay recommended good food guide.
We are also the proud winners of the 2003 "Anglia in bloom, village of the year and village green awards"
Our beautiful church, built in the 12th century has a tower measuring 125 ft high, being the third highest in Norfolk.
Winterton-On-Sea is near to, but a world away from Great Yarmouth.
