The house The house is an elegant grade II listed country manor standing in over 3 acres of private gardens incorporating a full size tennis court. The river Nar borders the estate. The house has recently been lavishly renovated and offers a luxurious venue for large groups of up to 14. Air beds are available for an additional 2 persons (for a max of a three day weekend). The oldest part of the house dates from the Queen Anne period. It has been recently renovated and boasts a host of "mod cons" with plenty to keep everyone happy. Two of the reception rooms offer an ideal space for adults to sit and relax, while the entertainment room is designed for more family orientated TV and video activities with its state of the art cinema system. This, combined with the well stocked games room, which includes pool, table tennis and football tables, means there is an abundance of fun activities. The large kitchen is laid out for families to get together in a communal manner, while the formal dining room forms the perfect backdrop for that celebratory meal.
The “Yellow” Reception Room has a pleasant aspect overlooking the landscaped gardens. It is bathed in natural light streaming through the windows, and is the perfect place to sit, relax and read. At night a real log fire can be lit making the room even more enchanting! The Dining Room forms the perfect backdrop for that celebratory meal. Its burgundy walls and crystal chandeliers add atmosphere and opulence.The Kitchen is great for more relaxed meals. The large central island makes it easy to prepare meals in a communal, friendly atmosphere. The Entertainment Room with its state of the art surround sound cinema projection system is great for watching, dvds, films or satellite tv.
The area offers good walking and cycling. A sailing club, pay-and-play golf course, and Welney Wildfowl Trust are all within easy reach. The medieval town of Kings Lynn (4 miles) is of historical interest and it also contains all the main shops and supermarkets. The seaside resorts of Hunstanton (19 miles) and Heacham (16 miles) boast Blue Flag award winning beaches and an array of traditional seaside activities and attractions for all ages. Hunstanton has a pier with lively seasonal entertainment, a Sea Life Centre, and cliff-top golf course. Heacham is home to the Norfolk Lavender Companywhich welcomes visitors.
Sandringham Estate - the Queens country residence, with its Jacobean-style house, museum, superb gardens and park are open to the public when the Royal Family are not in residence. To the south lies Ely Cathedral, ‘Ship of the Fens’, standing proudly in the small city of Ely. Ely has an excellent Saturday market and a good variety of gift shops, as well as a pretty water front and boat hire. The historic city of Cambridge is easily accessible. One of the nicest ways to explore the city is by punt, the river meanders through the city and passes many of the stunning university grounds. Norwich, famous for its cathedral and Coleman's mustard shop, is also within easy reach.
Both west and north Norfolk have an expanse of sandy beaches and salt marshes along the coastline, as well as nature reserves to protect the birds and plants which thrive here. The coastal road passes through many pretty rural villages, with popular tea rooms serving wonderful local food.
