Diss Mere began to form around 10,000 BC at the end of the last Ice Age in a hollow at the edge of the Waveney Valley. The town has a colourful weekly market on Friday, and an Auction on the sale ground, a museum and a host of speciality shops. Diss offers the visitor a charming ambience with its half-timbered buildings and jettied upper storeys. During the summer live entertainment and concerts are held in the park pavilion. Diss also has a large swim and fitness centre.
