The Old Byre is a characterful converted single storey farm dwelling ideally suited for exploring the Waveney Valley area situated on the Norfolk/Suffolk borders with close proximity to the bustling market town of Bury St Edmunds and the ancient city of Norwich with its famous cathedral and the shopping town of Ipswich. The coastal towns of Southwold, Dunwich, Aldborough, Great Yarmouth etc can be reached within an hour and the Norfolk Broads are also easily accessible. Attached to the owners accommodation this cottage is situated in a quiet no-through country lane with beautiful uninterrupted views across fields in the peaceful rural village of North Lopham with its church, post office and characterful thatched public house. Diss is a thriving market town which borders a beautiful six acre Mere which is a haven for ducks and wildlife. Diss Mere began to form around 10,000 BC at the end of the last Ice Age in a hollow at the edge of the Waveney Valley. The town has a colourful weekly market on Friday, and an Auction on the sale ground, a museum and a host of speciality shops. Diss offers the visitor a charming ambience with its half-timbered buildings and jettied upper storeys. During the summer live entertainment and concerts are held in the park pavilion. Diss also has a large swim and fitness centre.
