A beautiful, ancient cottage and a spectacular modern apartment created from an ancient building (parts of which are believed to be 900 years old), set in the heart of the medieval village of Aunby, which lies five miles north of Stamford. In 2005 the cottages underwent extensive restoration and refurbishment and are now available for holiday use. Aunby is a tranquil village in rolling countryside, and the cottages benefit from lake views, light airy bedrooms and a cosy sitting rooms with wood burning stoves. They are ideal places to relax and enjoy the Lincolnshire countryside or visit the many attractions close by, notably Stamford, a Georgian town described by Sir Walter Scott as ‘the finest scene between London and Edinburgh’ and recently featured in ‘Pride and Prejudice’

The sitting room contains a woodburning stove, television and music centre as well as seating and eating areas. The kitchen is fully equipped with electric oven and hob, microwave, dishwasher, fridge etc.

The cottage is fully centrally heated and benefit from almost unlimited parking

There are two double bedrooms both containing beds which can be reconfigured to give either a kingsize double or two regular single beds. Both bedrooms are easily large enough to allow a third pullout bed, making it possible for up to 6 people to be comfortably accommodated.

The stunning 50 foot reception room contains a television, music centre, table tennis table, and table football, as well as seating and eating areas. The kitchen opens off the reception room and is fully equipped with electric oven, gas hob, microwave, dishwasher, fridge etc.

One double bedroom includes a ‘cot annex’ suitable for a cot or single bed, and the third bedroom contains a third pullout bed, making it possible for up to 8 people to be comfortably accommodated.

There is a terraced area at the rear of the property with barbeque and seating area. The apartment is fully centrally heated. It also benefits from almost unlimited parking.

Combining the Cottages

Both properties lie directly on a bridleway, providing ample opportunity to ride or walk out. There are fishing lakes within a five minute walk and Rutland Water and the Tallington Lake complex are all within easy distance, as of course, is Burghley.

Aunby Cottage may be rented on its own, or enlarged to incorporate the Granary. These two properties are adjacent to one another and, if they are to be taken together, have use of an interconnecting door. Please click on the floor plan tab to see this in more detail.
