This charming four star stone cottage sleeps two to four  people and has two bedrooms. It is on a quiet, private lane in the small farming hamlet of Alton in the prize-winning parish of Ashover and on the edge of the scenic Peak District National Park. Perched on top of a hill, there are fantastic views over the valley where you can see the National Trust properties Hardwick Hall and Bolsover Castle on the skyline.on the edge of the Peak District National Park.

The peaceful little hamlet of Alton is in beautiful countryside on the fringes of the scenic Peak District National Park. It is the ideal base for exploring all this area has to offer. There is excellent walking from the doorstep with horse-riding nearby. The “Crooked Spire” town of Chesterfield and the resort of Matlock Bath are both within a few miles.  Chatsworth House and the “White Peak” dales around Bakewell and Dovedale are all an easy drive away. For the children there are the American Adventure and Gulliver’s Kingdom.

There are several excellent pubs which serve food in the vicinity – at least half a dozen of them just over a mile away in the neighbouring villages of Ashover, Milltown and Woolley Moor.

Foxglove Cottage is full of character and is furnished and equipped to a high standard whilst retaining many original features. In recognition of this it has received a four  star quality grading by VisitBritain.

There is an open log fire for cosy  winter evenings. The cottage also has its own private garden with barbecue and furniture for those lazy summer days.

One well-behaved pet is welcome by prior arrangement.

Prices

There are no hidden extras in the price. What you see is what you pay. The rental covers all bedding (duvets), towels, central heating costs, electricity and fuel for the open fire. Please check our website for latest prices and availability

Bookings

Foxglove Cottage is open throughout the year. Weekly bookings generally run from Saturday to Saturday between Easter and the end of September. Short breaks of three nights usually run from Friday to Monday but contact us to check if other days are available. If you book a four-night short break from Monday to Friday you get four nights for the same price as a three-night weekend break.

It is always worth contacting us if your requirements are different from this, particularly for late bookings or during the winter. We try to be as flexible as possible about start dates.

We ask for a deposit on booking with the balance six weeks before your holiday starts.
