Carregfelen is a beautiful 14th Century Manor House set in a stunning part of North Wales on the edge of Snowdonia, only 1.5 miles from the beach. It was extended in the 1920's by the famous visionary architect, Clough Williams-Ellis, whose experimental Italianate village, Portmeirion, is close by. The main part of the house, with it's cosy, beamed rooms and hand finished oak floors, feels more like a higgledy-piggledy Welsh Cottage than a Manor House. Each room is full of fascinating antiques, paintings and family memorabilia. There is a children's wing with a light, sunny sitting room/playroom and modern fitted kitchen. The dining rooms is reminiscent of a medieval banquetting hall where memorable meals can be enjoyed in an enchanting atmosphere. The comfortable bedrooms and contemporay state of the art bathrooms are finished in keeping with the rest of the house. The private garden, with it's miniature topiary, orchard and ancient oak woods, comes into it's own in spring and summer when the terrace can be used for al fresco eating.
