The cottage is in a quiet rural position, yet only 3 miles from Caernarfon which is a World Heritage Site with its grand castle on the shore of the Menai Straits. Bryn Beddau cottage, which makes a wonderful base for touring, is a mile from the village of Bontnewydd (just off the A487) on a very pretty lane which just serves the farmhouses, and then becomes a green track. There are many pretty walks from Bryn Beddau, and it is also a great centre for touring by car. There is an excellent village pub with bar meals and a restaurant in Bontnewydd.. Large supermarkets: Safeway, Tesco, Kwiksave, ( extra Sunday opening 10.am to 4pm) as well as other stores: Boots, Woolworth, Curry, Iceland, are to be found in Caernarfon, which is two miles from Bontnewydd. Caernarfon also has an indoor swimming pool with sauna, gym and a new indoor tennis courts, and a golf course. Caernarfon Castle itself is a world heritage site and the delightful old walled town is largely pedestrianised. Dinas Dinlle, which can be seen at a distance from the cottage, is the nearest sandy beach. Bryn Beddau Cottage is a stone built former stable converted into a cottage. It is let Sunday 4a.m. to Sunday 10 p.m. The cottage is quietly positioned down a long drive from the lane and has its own patio on the seaward side of the house, as well as a seating area for sunlit breakfasts outside the kitchen door. The field is good for ball games or a gentle stroll.It has achieved the 4 Dragon award from the Wales Tourist Board. The kitchen is fully fitted, and has a full size cooker, a fridge freezer, microwave and a fully automatic front-loading washing machine, pine table and chairs. The pine staircase leads to the lovely Oriel bedroom. This gallery bedroom has two large arched windows which overlook the patio, and over the fields to the sea and Anglesey. The gallery has a double bed and chest of drawers and there is a pine bench and rocking chair to enjoy the view. From the gallery bedroom there are two steps to the twin bedded room, which also has a cot, a large built-in wardrobe and a dressing table. The door to the bathroom is in this room. The bathroom has a semi-sunken bath, wash basin and toilet. Tall people beware the characterful beams! Bed linen is for hire, or you are welcome to bring your own (top and bottom sheets and pillowcases needed.) Kitchen towels are provided but you need to bring your own personal towels, of course. (Towels are available for overseas visitors coming by air.) Outside on the seaward side of the house, there is a patio for the use of the cottage, with a barbecue, and large patio table and chairs. On the yard side of the house, there is seating to enjoy the morning sun and many flowers in tubs and baskets in season. The main farmhouse is next door to the cottage, and I am there to welcome you and will be delighted to help you at any time during your holiday, should you need assistance or information. Well-behaved dogs who bring their own bedding, and are not left alone in the house, are welcome at a cost of £8 each.
