self-catering at Rickla
you start to think something must be right when guests return to stay with you: you begin to believe it when they return year after year after year – and sometimes twice a year.
it’s not just the beauty of Orkney,
it’s not just the relaxed atmosphere of these Islands:
it’s not just that ever since Rickla opened in 1996, it has been rated by VisitScotland as the best serviced accommodation in Orkney. (and in the top five in Scotland).
it’s not just that Rickla was shortlisted for the prestigious Thistle Award for Customer Care in 2005 and won it in 2006 i’s not just anything - it’s the combination of them all which keeps people coming back to us so that now more than six out of every ten who stay here, have stayed before.
and because so many want to stay longer, and bring their friends, we have added the luxurious self-catering option at Rickla with it’s lounge, kitchen and dining area above the existing
rather than try to describe it ourselves,
why not just read what VisitScotland said in August 2006 when they graded the property as 5-star ( with a score of 97% which placed it firmly in the top 3% in all Scotland…….)
“finished to a very high level…seating of the highest quality…handmade cushions….a large plasma screen TV with recordable DVD and full satellite package…” “German units of a very high quality with integrated fridge, freezer, dishwasher and ample storage…..accessories of the highest standard…crystal glasses ….Prestige utensils….Gorenje ceramic hob with touch controls…….large oven/grill and microwave…unique glass-topped dining table ….co-ordinated electrical appliances ….a computer with internet connection…wireless broadband covering the whole house…. …...an exceptional standard of cleanliness as seen in the b&b.”
(fine words, we could not have written it better ourselves… but what is not mentioned are the panoramic views over the rolling farmland of the World Heritage Site with it’s 4000-year old Ring of Brodgar, the Hoy hills and of course Harray Loch with it’s superb free fishing!
