Caberfeidh, Polbain, Achiltibuie
Caberfeidh is a popular Achiltibuie holiday home with outstanding sea views towards Tanera Mhor, the largest of the Summer Isles.

see where Achiltibuie is?
About 12 miles north of Ullapool turn left along the road signposted Achiltibuie and the Summer Isles. In less than 45 minutes you could be in your Achiltibuie holiday home though admiring the magnificent scenery may make your journey slower. It is a single track road with passing places.

see where Polbain is?
Polbain is on the long coastal strip called Achiltibuie. Drive past the lochs down to the coast and then turn right. You will see Badentarbet Bay on your left. Drive up the hill, past the shop and you'll come to Caberfeidh, on your right, one of several holiday homes in Achiltibuie.

view from Caberfeidh garden
Most Achiltibuie homes have sea views. From Cabefeidh the bay on the sheltered side of Tanera Mhor can be seen. Viking ships used to anchor here to escape the fury of the storms.

from the road to Achiltibuie
The more energetic people staying in my Achiltibuie holiday home drive along the coast and climb some of these hills from the far side.

Cul Beag
This hill is easily accessed from the road to Achiltibuie.

Cul Mhor
To ascend Cul Mohr climbers can park in a layby off the road from Ullapool to Ledmore Junction. This photo shows the view from Achnahaird.

Stac Pollaidh
Most people who holiday in my Achiltibuie home climb Stac Pollaidh. Some going up the steep front and others up the safer far side. I think there is now a path all round the hill. There is a car park at the base.

view from the sitting-room window
This outlook is ever changing. The sunsets are memorable especially in a stormy sky.

looking towards Dornie from Altandhu
For me this is one of the most beautiful views in Scotland, and it can be seen from the car; no physical effort required. No photograph can do it justice. I like it best when silvery shafts of sunlight touch the islands after rain.

Achnahaird Bay
A beautiful beach especially when the tide is out. It is reached by walking along a cliff path from the Achnahaird car park. On a windy day it is adviseable to stay away from the cliff edge. Binoculars would help you to see the feeding sea birds on a quiet day.

Adjoining the sandy stretch are several secluded pebble beaches but watch out for incoming tides.
