With a long and interesting history, this farmhouse has been delightfully renovated so that it retains many traditional features, whilst also housing modern appliances that ensure your stay is comfortable and relaxing. With numerous activities in the surrounding area, including fishing, shooting and hiking, days at Easterton can be actively filled in the beautiful countryside or, if you prefer, discovering one of the local towns and villages. Property HistoryEASTERTON was built in the 1940`s by the STEPHEN family, and was a working farm until 2000. Prior to this the family were born and raised at DRYWELLS, the ruins of which can be seen to the rear of the house. Currently, a neighbouring farmer lets out all the land for use. In preparing the house for let, we have made an attempt to retain some of its original character, while incorporating some modern features for your comfort. The dresser situated in the dining room has been a part of this house since it was built .A local joiner constructed it as a wedding present for Mr &Mrs Stephen Snr, who were married in 1892. The tea caddies along the top are also an original feature. The late Stephen Aunties would fire their oatcakes on the girdle, hanging from the swey on the open fire, and then store them in the drawers of the dresser, along with their homemade butter and cheese. All the cooking was done on the open fire, which has only been slightly altered from its original state. Upstairs in the two bedrooms you will find linoleum, which has been there since the house was built. We felt that this should be left, as it is a characteristic feature of the house as it used to be. We have added rugs for your comfort. The fireplaces in the two upstairs rooms are non functional. The pine chests ("kists") were an essential part of the Uncles` furniture where they stored their clothes and other belongings.
