Wake up to the crescendo of seagulls and surf at our idyllic waterside home, circa 1860. Huge skies, breathtaking sunsets and ozone loaded sea air, make this the perfect location for the exploration of our undiscovered coastline. We are privileged to share our much loved home with lovers of nature who crave a well appointed home. The 'Coastal Cognoscenti' will find this a home from home. Minutes from shops, golf, harbour and more. Arrive exhausted - leave relaxed and inspired.
Scotstown is a quiet fishing village containing 18 cottages in a single line facing the sea. Banff is a medium sized town (high street, supermarket) and is situated above the grassy cliffs behind Scotstown.
Beach Walks & Cycling:
At low tide there is a small beach and rock pools right in front of the cottage. Two further sandy beaches a 5 minute walk along the seafront or out of our back gate where the old railway line ran. There is a lovely raised walkway along the old railway route following the coast. This will give you a gorgeous walk with grassy cliffs on one side and the sea on the other. It brings you down into grassy area, the old golf links and the beach. You could continue round the point to Whitehills. A good cycling area and one of the trails leads right past the cottage.
Golf:
Two golf courses, one in Banff within sight of Duff House, one in Macduff above the cliffs overlooking the sea.
Harbours:
Banff and Macduff both used by fishermen.
Things to See and Do:
Boat trips along the coast, bird and dolphin watching (you'll see them from the cottage too). Banff Museum, indoor swimming pool, Duff House and Garden 1735 (contains masterpieces from national galleries of Scotland), Macduff Marine Aquarium.
Electricity, gas and linen included (we do not provide beach towels). Non Smoking, pets by arrangement only, enclosed paved area to sit or store bikes.
