The Red House and Smithy cottage both date back to 1830 and were the family home of the Blacksmith. Sympathetically extended and refurbished, the cottages now provides very comfortable self-catering accommodation in a quiet rural setting. Wonderful mountain views and wildlife can be enjoyed from the cottage and the covered veranda is the perfect place to watch the evening sunset or the Northern Lights. Nearby forests offer way marked trails for cycling, walking and orienteering.Situated at the foothills of the Eastern Cairngorms between Royal Deeside and Speyside in the Cairngorm National Park area of Upper Donside, Strathdon is well placed for sight seeing. Visitors can enjoy Castle, Whisky, Coastal and Distillery trails. Gardens, fishing and children's attractions are all within a day visit.
The Red House consists of 5 bedrooms. Bedroom one has bunk beds and a single, Bedroom two a double bed, bedroom three a twin, bedroom four a twin bed and bedroom five a single bed. There is a bathroom with bath and shower over, a separate shower and toilet, lounge, large dining/kitchen with rayburn and an all year round sun lounge.
Smithy Cottage has two bedrooms. One with a double and 2 single beds. Bedroom two has bunk beds. Both bedrooms have ensuite shower/toilet/basin. Open plan lounge (with woodburning stove), dining room and kitchen.
