Glendavan House, set in the heart of Royal Deeside, was built as a shooting lodge in 1886, and is now well appointed as a family home offering a very high standard of accommodation. The house stands in its own extensive grounds - seven acres of woodland overlooking Loch Davan, in the heart of the Silver Jubilee Reserve. The loch is a bird sanctuary where, in autumn, thousands of greylag geese settle on their journey south, sharing territory with whooper swans, mallard ducks, moorhens and a family of otters. Glendavan House offers a warm welcome to those seeking quiet and comfortable relaxation. It is ideally situated as a base from which to explore the Highlands, Castle Country or the Whisky Trail. For the hillwalker, the hills of Deeside start at the front door. For the skier, the house is conveniently placed for access to the Lecht and Glenshee ski slopes. Golf, hunting, shooting, fishing, pony trekking, gliding and clay pigeon shooting are all locally available. Sea angling can be arranged at the fishing village of Stonehaven some 30 miles away. There are four double bedrooms - two with en-suite bathrooms - and two single rooms with washbasins. A further two small bedrooms are suitable for children. There are two additional bathrooms and a shower room. Upstairs, there is a children's playroom equipped with books, toys and a television. Downstairs are two sitting rooms - one with a wood-burning stove and music centre; the other with television and video - leading into a conservatory overlooking the loch. • The dining room has a large table which comfortably seats ten. • The kitchen is spacious and well equipped, with an oil-fired Aga cooker, electric cooker, microwave, fridge, freezer and dishwasher. • The washing machine and tumble dryer are houses in the utility room. The house is centrally heated by an oil-fired boiler. A payphone is situated in the hall. Pets are welcome by arrangement. Rent is inclusive of domestic help six hours weekly, and a generous amount of electricity and oil. All linen and towels are provided.
