Fishing - We are 5 minutes walk from the famous Rivers Tweed and Teviot where salmon fishing and course fishing are available.
Gardens - The gardens at Floors Castle, Monteviot and The Hirsel are open to the public and there are several gardens in the area open for single days during the summer months. At the Hirsel, unique displays of the rhododendrons can be seen during May and June.
Golf - There are 22 golf courses in the Borders, including a championship course at The Roxburgh Golf Course, 10 minutes from the cottages.
Historic Houses - Within the Borders there are seven fine historic homes to visit, each with something interesting and unique to offer. These are Floors Castle, Abbotsford, Bowhill, Manderston, Mellerstain, Traquair and Thirlestane Castle.
Bowling - There are excellent bowling greens in all of the major Border towns.
Rugby - all Border towns have their own rugby teams with Seven Aside competitions in April and late August / September.
Cinemas - There is a cinema in Kelso which shows films 4 nights each week, and also one in Galashiels.
Riding - The Borders has much to offer the horse enthusiast. The several pony - trekking centres and riding schools are within easy reach. From June to August there are Common Ridings in all the Borders Towns.
Swimming - There are swimming pools at Kelso and Jedburgh and a leisure centre at Hawick and Berwick.
Walking - Along with St Cuthbert's Way, the Cheviots make an ideal centre for hill walking . There are guided walks with the countryside ranger which operate from spring to autumn. Roxburgh also has its own organised walks with guide sheets available.
Bridge Club - Abbey Row, Kelso, Wednesday and Thursday evenings at 7pm. Visitors are welcome.
