Originally a cottage way back circa 1675, time had taken its toll on what is now known as Butterworth Cottage.  Used as a storage shed for various pieces of farm equipment, the cottage was just a shell of what it looked like in its glory days.  Pat and Neil Butterworth had a vision of what the 'shed' could be, and renovations on it began early on in December 1998.

Walls were taken down and built back up again, floors was added, all built as close to memories of the original lay out as modern additions (such as stairs) would allow.   Work was completed on the cottage in September 1999, and the first guests were accommodated 23^rd October 1999, feedback from all of our guests has been complimentary.

The cottage is located in Todmorden, on the West Yorkshire/Lancashire border, roughly three miles away from Hebden Bridge. 

Butterworth cottage is a fully centrally heated cottage, capable of accommodating upto six people.  Located in Todmorden in the Calder Valley on the Yorkshire/Lancashire border, it is a perfect location for both those wishing to relax in the rural environment of Todmorden or Hebden Bridge, or those that wish to visit the larger nearby towns of Leeds, Halifax, Burnley and Rochdale.   The cottage has been classed by the English Tourist Board, and meets or exceeds all of the standards it needs to to attain the Three Key classification it has been awarded.

There are two bedrooms containing a Double bed in one and two singles in the other.  The living room contains a bed settee that can be turned into another double bed.  Also in the spacious living room are dining arrangements for upto six, a cottage suite and a television.  The living room is overlooking the farmyard forecourt and also has a pleasing fireplace feature.

The cottage contains hand washing facilities in each bedroom, a shower in the master bedroom, and full washing facilities in an additional shower room.  A washer/dryer is provided for those wishing to clean their clothes, and an iron with ironing board is also supplied.  A fully fitted kitchen contains a gas cooker, fridge and microwave, and provides ample room for storage.
