Come and enjoy a very special holiday at Gaudy House Farm, in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales. Gaudy House Farm is set in 25 acres of long established upland farmland, looking down on Gayle and Hawes. It is just alongside the Pennine Way with magnificent views across the head of Wensleydale.

The situation is spectacular, almost whatever the weather. A wonderful, peaceful spot from which to centre a walking holiday or tour the Dales and the surrounding areas. There is lots to see and do in the vicinity -- and above all you can relax and enjoy a real taste of Dales hospitality.

The Accommodation
The accommodation is self-contained and has been built from a conversion of the old barn and byres of the original farm. It is comfortable, cosy and well equipped and we feel sure you will feel very welcome.

The Duerley barn
The Duerley barn (situated to the right in the picture) has upper and lower apartments, each with two bedrooms. Upper Widdale (to the left of the white farmhouse in the picture) is slightly larger, having a small third bedroom.

Upper Widdale
Upper Widdale has three bedrooms, with its own stone porch, and an open plan living/dining and kitchen area. All the accommodation has open fires and central heating. Colour televisions and radios are provided throughout. We provide the bedlinen, but guests are asked to bring their own towels.

All guests have access to a washing machine and tumble drier in the main farmhouse utility room, at a small extra charge. The farm is served by its own water supply straight off the fells – so after heavy rain it can get quite peaty, but rest assured that it does pass through a filtration and purification system!

The Area
There are lots things to see and do in the Dales. We have many enthusiastic walkers amongst our guests. You are also very welcome to stroll around our own fields and gill, but please do ask for permission when you arrive. We are happy for those with dogs to do likewise, provided none of the livestock is disturbed.

Gayle and Hawes are both very close. Hawes is the highest market town in England, and is a long established stopping post for travellers over the Pennines. (In fact, “Hawes” means a pass between the hills in Old Norse). It is very popular with visitors to the region, but still retains a friendly, unspoilt, local feel. There are a good number of small hotels, pubs, restaurants and cafes as well as various interesting attractions and points of interest. Gayle has few facilities, but it is an interesting old village and the site of GayleMill which featured on the BBC Restoration programme.
