The Weaver’s Cottage is a tiny, pretty, terraced property that was built around 1780 and is thought to have been occupied by Weavers. It has many original features including flagstone floors, leaded windows and a narrow steep staircase. Here you can experience at first hand a little of what life was like for a cottage worker over 200 years ago, but without deprivation - we have discreetly added electricity, central heating and modern plumbing. The cottage is in South Street and there is on-street parking outside; however Castle Cary has a railway station, which means that this cottage is suitable for non-drivers or for those that want to leave the car at home. Here you can enjoy the best of everything: a beautifully restored historic cottage a short stroll from the centre of a delightful old market town, yet with lovely country walks starting almost from your door. This cottage is very small and will house 2 people comfortably, however there are 2 additional narrow beds in the attic making it possible for a couple of extra guests to stay. The stairs are very steep so the cottage is not suitable for anyone with mobility problems, and we will not accept children under the age of 5. Guests are asked only to smoke out of doors. On the ground floor the living room has its original flagstone floor, open fire and pretty window with lead lights and a window seat. There are 2 sofas, an armchair, a further chair, a small desk, TV/video and a selection of books, games and videos. The Dining Room has a folding table, 4 chairs and a fridge. The stairs lead out of this room. The Galley Kitchen has been built on at the back. It has a cooker (with oven, grill and hob), sink, dishwasher and a surprise in the floor! The Garden is paved and has a table and 4 chairs. On the first floor, the pretty bedroom has its original elm floorboards and leaded window.
