Converted ten years ago from an ancient outbuilding, Yew Tree Barn provides lovely comfortable accommodation with a walled garden and an original well in the sitting room. This charming self-catering cottage is ideal for 4 people, but will sleep five quite comfortably, or six at a squeeze. · Spacious kitchen / breakfast room · Comfortable sitting room with well · Double bedroom · Family room with double bed and one or two single beds. · Bathroom with over bath shower · Enclosed garden The spacious farmhouse style kitchen-breakfast room is a great place for family and friends to relax around the preparation of dinner, or chill out over a long late breakfast. There are windows on three sides, including charming stained glass windows over looking the garden. One end of the room is full height revealing the original exposed roof timbers. Facilities include a cooker, microwave, fridge freezer, dishwasher and washing machine. The main area of the room centres on a traditional pine kitchen table (seats 6) and is well stocked with cutlery, crockery and utensils. In addition to the old well, which has been illuminated, the sitting room offers comfortable sofas, TV and DVD player at one end and a small table and chairs at the other. A glazed door opens from the sitting room into the garden. The bedrooms have been set into the roof of the old barn, with some of the original beams remaining. The spaces are charming, but the headroom is limited. The tall should be prepared to stoop a little! The smaller bedroom, with its unusual pointed door, contains a double bed. The larger bedroom has a double bed plus a single bed and a good quality single pull out guest bed, if required. The bathroom has a powerful over-bath shower, washbasin with original brass taps, wc and an exposed Cotswold stone wall. The cottage is approached by a gate and pretty entrance path through an arch to its own garden. A small lawn is surrounded by raised flower beds. Stone steps lead up to a raised patio from which you can just about glimpse the spire of the famous Painswick parish church of St.Mary’s. The garden is enclosed by thick Cotswold stone walls. Painswick is a classic English country village. The eclectic mixture of Cotswold stone buildings is a delight. Enjoy exploring the higgledy-piggledy streets, including the oldest post office building in England, the village stocks and the old bowling green. This is a great centre for walking, mountain-biking or just relaxing in the countryside. The Cotswold Way runs through the village a few yards from the gate of Yew Tree Barn, and the Painswick Beacon is a short uphill ramble away, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside. Village attractions include the Falcon Inn a few yards from the gate, Village shop 2 min walk, post office 1 min walk, a second pub, Craftsmen’s exhibition in August and various gift shops. Golf, horse-riding, tennis and children’s playground available locally. All bed linen and towels are provided. The property is central heated, and gas, electricity and water bills are included in the rate. Unfortunately I don’t allow smoking or pets, to keep the cottage clean and odour free for subsequent guests The well has a grill cover for safety. Should you need a cot or a high chair please do make enquiries as this can be arranged for you. Unfortunately the banister configuration does not permit the use of a stair gate. Special Features
