About the cottages: The traditionally-built cottages are set in a peaceful and beautiful area, facing south with far-reaching views over open countryside. They are six miles from the Roman Town of Cirencester and only two-and-a-half miles from the Cotswold villages of Bibury and Barnsley, home to the late Rosemary Verey and her famous garden. The cottages have large enclosed gardens with trees and shrubs. There is parking for two cars per cottage. Local maps and guide books are provided to enable you to explore the surrounding Cotswolds, but there is plenty of garden furniture if you would rather stay at home. There are excellent pubs, restaurants and shops within three miles, and pleasant walks in the picturesque Coln Valley. Local bus services run from Bibury and National ones from Cirencester. LILAC COTTAGE: Sleeps 3 + cot/extra bed. Tourist Board rating ~ 4 stars. The spacious sunny sitting room has a wood-burning stove with opening glass doors, colour TV, NS heater and comfortable sofa and chairs. The well-equipped kitchen has a quarry-tiled floor, new units, fridge-freezer, electric cooker, microwave, Night Storage heater and dining area with a window seat. The rear hallway, with plenty of space for boots and coats, leads to the garden and to the utility room with a washing machine, WC, tumble dryer, NS heater and Belfast sink. Upstairs there is a small landing with a NS heater. On the left is a large double bedroom with a double bed, chest of drawers, dressing table, NS heater and built-in hanging cupboard. There is plenty of room for an extra bed or cot. Across the landing is a pretty bathroom with bath and hand shower, WC, wash hand basin, shaver point and heated towel rail. The cosy single bedroom has a built-in hanging cupboard with shelving and a mirror with light above. Both bedrooms have fitted carpets, and all fabrics and decorations are co-ordinated and of excellent quality. LAVENDER COTTAGE: Sleeps 4 + cot/extra bed. Tourist Board rating ~ 4 Stars A bright and spacious sitting room, with a parquet floor, carpet and rugs. There is a window seat, comfortable sofa and chairs, wood-burning stove with opening glass doors, colour TV and NS heater. The kitchen is has new fitted units, fridge-freezer, electric hob and oven, microwave, window seat, dining area, quarry tile floor and NS heater. Through the rear hallway with space for coats and boots, there is a utility room with WC, Belfast sink, washing machine, tumble dryer and NS heater. Upstairs, everywhere has fitted carpets. The pretty main bedroom has a 5ft. double bed, chest-of-drawers, hanging cupboard, wash hand basin and airing cupboard. There is room for a cot or extra bed. The smaller bedroom has two beds, one of which is in a raised alcove with storage space underneath. The bathroom has a power shower, WC, wash hand basin, heated towel rail and NS heater. All fabrics and decorations are colour co-ordinated and of excellent quality. In both cottages fresh flowers, linen and large towels of good quality are provided each week. The beds are always made prior to your arrival, and the cottages thoroughly cleaned and checked. We can provide a cot and high chair, but would like you to provide your own cot bedding. There are pay-phones, radios and hairdryers in each cottage, and barbecues for your use. We are happy to have pets as long as they are well-behaved and you clear up any mess they make in the garden. The electricity and heating are metered and paid for at the end of your stay. The first basketful of wood and coal are provided; thereafter it can be supplied at cost.
