BILBO COTTAGE is rated 3 star by the English Tourism Council and is an 18th Century 3 storey, terraced Portland Stone cottage. It has been modernised to a high standard whilst retaining many of its original features. 

However I'm afraid the cottage is unsuitable for children under 4.

The cottage, situated in Wakeham, sleeps six in three bedrooms. It has thick stone walls and gas central heating which make it cool in the summer and cosy in the winter. The village of Easton is 10 minutes walk away with a variety of shops and several pubs, while the Mermaid Inn is just 200 metres down the road.

Downstairs


Lounge/Diner - this open plan room provides comfortable seating and an original Portland Stone fireplace with a gas living flame stove. There is a colour TV and video as well as a large pine dining table and chairs in the dining area.

The fully-fitted kitchen has a gas cooker, fridge/freezer, microwave and washing machine as well as a comprehensive range of cutlery and cooking utensils.

A well-appointed bathroom has a bath with a really good shower unit, washbasin, toilet, heated towel rail and shaver socket.

Garden - leading out from the kitchen there is a long sunny garden with garden furniture, a barbecue area and outdoor lighting. There is a back access on to Bumpers Lane and the cliff walk.


Upstairs

The main bedroom is on the first floor and has a double bed with duvet and pillows provided. However, guests must bring their own sheets, duvet covers, pillowcases and towels (overseas visitors may hire linen). There is ample cupboard and hanging space.

The second bedroom (also on the first floor) has two full-size beds (with duvets and pillows), fitted wardrobes and a chest of drawers.

The third bedroom (on the top floor) has a double futon bed (with duvet and pillows) and lots of wardrobe space

Weymouth, a typical British seaside resort, is only 5 miles away and buses run from Easton Square (500 yards away) every 10 minutes.

If you like to walk, watch birds, swim or generally chill out then Portland is the place for you. The cliff walks are spectacular and there is an RSPB centre in the old lower lighthouse on the Bill. The swimming and fishing at Church Ope Cove (200 yards from the cottage and then down 150 steps) are superb. There are 4 pubs within 500 yards of the cottage - most do food. However there are no nightclubs, cinemas or late night venues I'm afraid. You would have to go to Weymouth for these.
