We offer Damers Cottage located in the idyllic village of East Chaldon or Chaldon Herring as it may otherwise be known. Damers Cottage was originally a Farmhouse, with an adjoining barn and outbuildings dating from the 1580's. It is typically constructed of flint and brick with a thatched roof and has been lovingly restored by the present owners. Having a dual aspect, it overlooks the village green on one side and rolling chalk hills on the other. Ideally situated for walkers, with walks emanating from the village to the South West Coastal Path, now part of the Jurassic Coast World Heritage site. Four miles south east lies Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door. Ancient 3-bedroomed oak beamed thatched cottage, although still with good enough height - sleeps 5 + cot. Oil fired central heating. No telephone, but the local public phone box is a stone throw away. Changeover day is Saturday to Saturday. Rent includes electricity, oil and calor gas services. Glazed lobby with space for boots/coats.
Sitting Room - double aspect with glazed doors to terrace, stone fireplace (non working); tv video and hi-fi 3 seater sofa and armchairs. Kitchen/Dining Room - Recently, refurbished with new units, pine furniture plus calor hob, electric double oven, dishwasher, microwave a washing machine fridge/freezer and tumble dryer. Terrace - Sunny terrace with furniture, surrounded by large lawn. the garden is fenced from the road but not from the shallow brook, which runs on one side, so younger children and dogs should be supervised after personal assessment. Parking - At the west end of the cottage on its own driveway. The Hamlet of East Chaldon is approached off the A352 through narrow country lanes. It has some fifty houses a pub 'The Sailors Return' and St Nicholas Church with a Green in the centre of the Village. Famous for past artists, such as the Powys Family, Elizabeth and Hope Muntz, and Sylvia Townsend Warner and Valentine Ackland. East Chaldon has remained unspoilt and peaceful. Neighbouring towns are Weymouth, a sandy-beach Georgian seaside resort, Dorchester, Dorset's County town and Wareham , a walled Saxon town on the river Frome. These are all about 20 mins by car. A mile away in Winfrith Newburgh there is an adequate village shop. There are several good local pubs. For More InformationVisit Property's WebsiteSpecial Features
