The Granary is a distinctive converted granite barn tastefully decorated, and has two doors on different levels. A novel raised wooden bed-plinth. It also has a comfy living area upstairs. A shower room with a WC, and a dining/kitchen area downstairs, and an efficient night storage heating included in the price during the cooler months.
Budleigh is a working farm which has diversified by the conversion of some of the farm buildings into welcoming self-catering accommodation. Also, two of the fields have been made into modest target shooting ranges. In spite of this we feel the original character of the place has been retained and, relaxing in the tranquil Devon countryside, our visitors enjoy getting away from it all.
Our seven properties have been thoughtfully designed from distinctive granite barns originally built in 1870. With modern comfort, whatever the weather, we guarantee visitors will be warm and cosy.
A small campsite operates in the summer.
On the sporting side, visitors can play table tennis or safely swim in our well-maintained heated outdoor pool, which is in use only during the summer months.
Budleigh also has facilities for archery and is a centre of excellence for target shooting. We have an expert on hand to teach, and can provide everything for target shooting needs. Archers should bring their own personal equipment, but we provide full range facilities.
At Budleigh Farm sheep and cattle graze over 60 acres of pasture, while our woodland is home to buzzards, squirrels, badgers and foxes. In spring, snowdrops and daffodils fill the valley then later bluebells turn the woods to a smoky haze.
Dartmoor is a haven of wildlife.Walkers can join our local ramblers club on regular outings; its members are very welcoming to visitors. There are self-guided town and country trails to follow. Moretonhampstead’s unique letterbox trail leads through leafy lanes, along farm tracks and over stiles.
Cars and bicycles can be left on the farm with complete confidence of safety.
Our local small town, half a mile away, is a busy community with an interesting mix of people, shops and trades. Artists and craftsmen exhibit in small galleries. There is a range of pubs and cafes in the town, traditional shops, a first class butcher and delicatessen and a small supermarket.
Bus services leave Moretonhampstead for Exeter and Newton Abbot. You can hop on and off the Newton Abbot bus at the bottom of our drive. An open top double decker travels across Dartmoor to Plymouth in summer – it’s the best way to view the moor.
