Rumleigh Farm dates back to 1298 and sits in the wonderful wildlife haven that is the Tamar Valley, now part of a World Heritage Site. The Tamar Valley is also an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is an exceptional wildlife area of international significance with its habitats for wildfowl and wading birds. The clean air, geology and micro-climate also make the valley an important site for lichens, small mamals and bats. All around extensive areas of ancient woodland still clothe the steep valley sides, and remnants of heathland still persist on the granite ridges. Layers of history and human exploitation of the land have left a legacy of unique habitats, such as mine spoil, species-rich hedges, old market gardens and orchards, each of which has its own characteristic wildlife. Rumleigh, although once a large farm, is now 30 acres of magical land leading straight down to the River Tamar. On the other side of the river bank is Cornwall, which makes Rumleigh an ideal centre for exploring both Devon and Cornwall. If that is not enough, we are only a few minutes from famous Dartmoor, steeped in legend and history with its mysterious beauty. Tavistock our nearest town is an award winning market town full of interesting artisan shops and restaurants but only half an hour away is the historic city port of Plymouth where you can trace the last journey of the Pilgrim Fathers, stand on the Mayflower steps, see where Sir Francis Drake played his legendary bowls before he defeated the Spanish Armada and experience the deepest aquarium in Europe. On the farm we have two wonderful barn conversions. Yellowhammer is a 3 bed, two bathroom, spacious barn. It feels like a real home from home with squashy leather sofas, loads of room to spread and relax and everything you could ever need. It sleeps 7. For two of you wanting to get away from it all, there is Dragonfly. Small, cosy and luxurious with everything planned to make you unwind – deep bath, large shower, seating so you can stretch out and contemporary decoration. In both we have fabulously comfortable beds - everyone comments. Outside you can be private in your own courtyard or you can choose to walk, run, or play on our glorious land. Our beautiful piece of England teams with wildlife and feels like you have stepped back in time. Please come and see us. For More InformationVisit Property's WebsiteSpecial Features
