Drop Anchor is a pretty refurbished Grade II listed 4 bedroom (1 en-suite) end of terrace cottage which sleeps a maximum of 8 - two double bedrooms, one twin bedroom and one bedroom with bunk beds.

The cottage is less than 2 mins walk from the centre of the pretty fishing village of Appledore with it's winding narrow streets, quay, pubs, shops, galleries and pretty white washed cottages.

The cottage has a wonderful south facing terraced garden from which glorious river views towards Instow can be enjoyed - fab for BBQs on summer evenings.

The accommodation comprises:

Entrance hall - with old tiled floor and antique style radiator

Lounge - Woodburning stove, original plasterwork ceiling, TV & DVD player, two seater sofa, coffee table, easy chair and large floor cushion which can be pulled out for extra seating.

Dining Room - large farmhouse style kitchen table with 6 chairs and two fold away chairs.

Kitchen - Fully equipped fitted kitchen with range style cooker, dishwasher, microwave, fridge-freezer, kettle and toaster, a washing machine, downstairs loo & large sink (great for washing your wet-suit after a days surfing) can be found in the utility room located outside the back door.

The kitchen contains all the usual assortment of kitchen tools you would expect to find in most houses e.g. sauce-pans, frying pan, spatula, garlic press, cheese grater etc etc.

Garden - the sunny south facing garden is accessed from the back door in the kitchen, it has steps leading up to a patio area which is perfect for BBQs and a large lawned area with fabulous Estuary
views across to Instow.

Please be aware that the garden steps are steep and narrow - there are gates at the top and bottom of the steps but please be careful when allowing young children to use the steps!

Master Bedroom - Occupying the roof space with exposed beams and varnished floor boards, King size bed, chest of drawers, TV, en-suite bathroom with a jacuzzi bath, large shower cubicle, WC,
wash basin and heated towel rail

Whats included:

All electricity/gas etc are included in the price of your stay, the house has gas fired central heating.

The house has a washing machine, iron and ironing board, a hoover and most importantly a BBQ
(please bring your own charcoal)

Whats not:

Duvets and pillows are included but you will need to bring your own sheets and duvet covers as well as towels

You will also need to bring household essentials such as washing up liquid, washing powder, tea bags, coffee etc as these are not included in the price of your stay.

If you require stair gates, travel cots or high chairs you will need to bring these with you.

Don't forget to bring your surfboards!!!

Appledore the town

A few fishing trawlers based in Appledore still manage to earn living from the sea. Though you are more likely to see a visiting yacht moored alongside the most picturesque Quay.
Immediately behind which are a maze of narrow alleys , old fishermen's and boatmen's cottages. White washed and decked with flowers in summer. A selection of galleries, craft
shops and places to eat, many specialising in seafood.

Instow beach and dunes - A short ferry ride or a 15 minute drive from Appledore

A long beach on the estuary very popular for fishing and sailing as well as other beach activities. It is a sandy beach, backed by low dunes, at the mouth of the rivers Taw and Torridge. When the tide is out it is very
pleasant walking along the beach by the edge of the river Torridge with picturesque Appledore on the opposite side.

Westward Ho! - 8 minute drive from Appledore

This beach is patrolled by lifeguards and is one of the safest in the area. It offers vast expanses of golden sands, which makes it ideal for fun family bathing.

The wonderful surf that runs on to Westward Ho! Draws surfers from miles around, and with designated surfing areas the beach caters for every activity. The surf is also home to wild sea bass, attracting anglers from all over the country!

Westward Ho! is also home to the Royal North Devon Golf Course.
