On the coastal plain of Northumberland five miles north of Alnwick, 'The Pebble', converted from a shepherd's semi-detached cottage, enjoys a quiet rural setting. It is situated on a farm, and looks out over farmland to distant trees and hills. Quarter of a mile away at Rock Midstead there is an organic farm shop and tea room. Within five miles there are numerous unspoilt sandy beaches, rocky crags and attractive villages with pubs. Alnwick, Bamburgh, Dunstanburgh, Lindisfarne (Holy Island) and Warkworth are all easily accessible by car. To the west is the magnificent walking country of the moors and Cheviot hills and further to the south west the Roman Wall. In the market town of Alnwick you can also visit the historic Alnwick Castle of Harry Potter fame and the famous, newly created Alnwick Castle Gardens. The cottage has a small enclosed garden, facing south, equipped with picnic table and chairs, a barbeque, a small workshop and lock-up garage. Inside, the kitchen has just been completely renovated and contains microwave, fridge, dishwasher and new cooker. It looks into the comfortable sitting room (with TV) through a large hatch with a counter. There is night storage central heating and in the sitting room an open fire. Electric fires are available if required. A comfortable separate dining room, with desk and settee, seats six. Downstairs there is also a utility room with sink, clothes washer and drying rack, toilet and shower. Upstairs there are three bedrooms, sleeping five, (one double, one twin and one single) and bathroom/toilet. Throughout, this family cottage is furnished and decorated to a high standard, with original watercolours and family memorabilia. There is a supply of books, maps and guide books. All fuel, power and bedlinen are included in the rental. Towel hire is available at small extra cost. Sorry, no smoking. Pets by arrangement.
