Only 4 minutes walk downhill to the delights of friendly market town Ambleside yet quietly located away from the hustle and bustle with its own garden and seating area. In an ideal location you can see Wansfell and hear the famous Stock Ghyll waterfall from the garden - maybe sheep and birds too! There have been reports of badgers and toads..... Perfect in any season, the cottage has full gas central heating and a living flame gas fire in the lounge to warm you instantly if the weather suddenly changes. You can snuggle up by the fire to watch TV, a video, read a book or play games. There is a second seating area on the top floor where you can sit quietly to read or watch the view. If you would rather walk than relax there are plenty of high and low level routes which you can follow from the cottage door - no need to take the car! You can climb up to Red Screes or over the Fairfield Horseshoe - on a clear day you can see the sea! Or why not follow the wooded old 'coffin route' to Grasmere with lovely views over Rydal Water; climb Wansfell for amazing views over Windermere and all the way to Kentmere; take a longer walk to Troutbeck with views across the lake all the way and its interesting pubs to refresh you when you arrive. The list is endless. Back 'home' an outside light switches on to welcome you as you approach and then a bath, shower followed by an evening by the fire or a stroll to the Golden Rule - nearest pub - famous for its real ales and local atmosphere. Ambleside has everything you could wish for: tourist information, late night shops, top class restaurants, pubs with live music and good food, butchers, bakers, chemist, fish n' chip shops, gift shops, outdoor gear, bicycle hire, library, banks, market, cinema. All this in a small area with lovely surroundings and friendly people.
