Welcome to the 4**** Graded Bendale Cottage

A warm welcome awaits you at West House Farm, Dearham, where we offer high quality self catering accommodation at our newly completed, purpose built holiday home – Bendale Cottage.

West House Dearham can offer you the best of both worlds, the Lake District to the east and the Solway coast to the west. We have views across the Solway to Criffell on the Scottish Coast in one direction and views of the Lake District fells in the other.

West House is a modern dairy farm in the heart of the countryside. The farm is farmed in an environmentally friendly manner. Each field is linked to the farm by lanes and farm tracks. The lanes are hedge lined with oak, ash, sycamore and beech trees; and are full of wildlife. Most fields have streams running through them and aquatic invertebrates including freshwater shrimp and mayfly are present. Deer and foxes often cross the fields and have been seen on several occasions form the farm house and gardens.

We have spotted several red squirrels over the past few months and are trying to encourage them to come to our feeding stations.

We have an abundance of wild birds which frequent our gardens. We have bird tables and nesting boxes around the farmyard. Visitors can feed the birds on the patio outside their lounge.

We have information leaflets on the farms wildlife in the cottage and visitors are encouraged if they desire to walk the farm lanes and boundaries. The tracks are suitable for walking, horse riding and mountain bikes.

Stabling is available for rent on the farm if visitors wish to bring their own horses with them on holiday.

Bendale Cottage - The Facilities:

The oil fired central heated accommodation at Bendale Cottage consists of an open plan living kitchen area with beautiful furnishings and a fully equipped kitchen. The bedroom has a king sized bed for your comfort, quality furniture and two windows with views over the garden and surrounding countryside. The bathroom consists of a corner shower, toilet and basin. The property is decorated and furnished to a very high standard. Outside the patio doors from the lounge area is a raised patio area with wonderful views that you can enjoy whilst sitting on the garden furniture. A gas barbeque is available.

Fresh garden flowers (when in season) will decorate the cottage and a welcome pack will await your arrival.

All bedding and towels are provided.

Fully equipped with fitted units, electric oven hob and extractor fan, microwave oven, fridge, crockery, cutlery, and utensils

Breakfast bar:
With two comfortable bar stools looking towards the living area.

Living area:
Comfortable sofa and chair, colour TV and video, coffee table and book shelves

Bedroom:
King size bed, wardrobe, chests and bedroom chair.
An additional fold away bed and a child’s cot can be provided if required.

Bathroom:
Corner shower, toilet and basin with shower point

All rooms:
Decorated and furnished to a very high standard.

Outside:
Large raised patio area with garden furniture, plant tubs and a gas barbeque.
Safe secure parking.

Bendale Cottage - The Area

Bendale is situated midway between Cockermouth and Maryport and is only minutes drive from the Solway Coast. There are lots to do and see in the area.

On site farm trail - Bendale Cottage is situated at West House, which remains a working farm.

The Solway Coast has been designated and area of outstanding natural beauty (AONB)
