Approached from a country lane and shared private drive, Batters is the second of our cottages within the Holker Estate, sharing the same peaceful location as Salesbrook.The village of Cark lies 8 miles south of lake Windermere, a few minutes' walk from the cottage. Though small it has an excellent pub, The Engine Inn, and a well-stocked village store.From Cark you step into Flookbrough, famed for its shrimps. The coast road takes you to Humphrey Head, onto Grange or Cartmel.Some 200yrs old, crafted from local stone Batters offers comfortable accommodation for 5. Down stairs there is a well-equipped kitchen, a cloakroom and a large sitting/dining room. Here sofa and arm chairs sit under oak beams in the glow of a roaring log fire. A door leads to a ‘secret’ stone stairway that accesses the master double bedroom.The main stairway leads up to a hall and landing where you will find all 3 bedrooms. A single, a twin and the master double with en suite bathroom. Finally, the master bathroom has a bath with separate shower cubicle, hand basin and WC.Across the drive is a little walled garden for guests to relax and, when not being used for grazing, you may access any of the meadows. The cottage is ideal for exploring both the peninsulas and the southern lakes and the peaceful location will make for a relaxed holiday.
