Nutshell Barn is situated in the small hamlet of Biggins only 10 minutes walk from the historic town of Kirkby Lonsdale. In the heart of the Lune valley, the area is designated an “area of outstanding natural beauty” and is close to the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales. Kirkby Lonsdale is 6 miles from Junction 36 of the M6 motorway.

Nutshell Barn is a Grade 2 listed barn converted to a very high standard in late 2001. The accommodation comprises two bedrooms (one double, one twin), dining kitchen and lounge. The outlook is over open countryside to Barbon Fell.

The Barn has been furnished and equipped to a very high standard and includes

The Area

Kirkby Lonsdale is set in a superb location adjacent to the river Lune, boasting many historic and architectural attractions including Devil’s Bridge, mentioned in the Domesday book of 1086, an 11th century Norman parish church, and many 17th and 18th century buildings.

Ruskin’s View overlooking the river Lune is another famous attraction. John Ruskin wrote ‘I do not know in all my own country, still less in France or Italy, a place more naturally divine.’
The town has nearly 60 shops. Many of the shop fronts are listed in keeping with this ancient market town. There are many excellent restaurants as well as pubs and cafés. Two golf courses are within five miles of Biggins, one a 9-hole pay & play the other is an 18-hole par 72 course; both have excellent views over the surrounding countryside.
