The Byre is a two bedroomed cottage, that sleeps four (plus cots), located in the farm steading of Scotchcoulthard. The living room has a wood burning stove  with three piece suite. There is a door leading out onto a patio with extensive views of the countryside. There are tables and chairs for the summer evenings. Raised a step from the living room is the fully equipped kitchen  with four ring gas cooker. A window to the North has superb views across a valley to the forest.   
A door leads from the entrance way to a short passage off which is a store cupboard with the washing machine in it. The bathroom  and twin room are along the passage and the double room at the end. the bathroom has a bath with shower over.
A large double bedroom is one step up at the end of the passage and extends into the pitch. The main wall is fabric covered.  A large Victorian wardrobe with drawers is featured.  the bathroom off the bedroom has a wall hung WC, basin inset into a large marble top and a double ended large bath.

As with all our cottages, The Byre is fully equipped for day to day living. The prices are inclusive of all linen, towels, cleaning materials including soap powders, all fuels, use of indoor pool. You should only need to bring food and drink.

Scotchcoulthard lies 4 miles north of Hadrian’s Wall at its highest point half way between Carlisle and Newcastle. We are located in the beautiful and unspoilt Northumbrian National Park and have 180 acres of upland farm on which our guests are free to roam.

Scotchcoulthard is run as a holiday cottage business with five cottages sleeping from 1 to 7 and is also a working farm. We have Rare Breed animals including pigs, cows, sheep and a few hens.

We welcome children and pets. There is plenty of space for children to play with a tree house and play area. There is a games room with table tennis, a cd player, toys and games where children can make lots of noise and not disturb the grown ups. We also have an indoor, heated swimming pool.
