High Tipalt Cottage

High tipalt is a three bedroomed cottage located in the farm steading of Scotchcoulthard. Scotchcoulthard lies 4 miles north of Hadrian’s Wall at it’s highest point half way between Carlisle and Newcastle. We are located in the beautiful and unspoilt Northumbrian National Park and have 180 acres of upland farm which our guests are free to roam.

Scotchcoulthard is run as a holiday cottage business with five cottages sleeping from 1 to 7 and is also a working farm. We have Rare Breed animals including pigs, cows, sheep and a few hens.

We welcome children and pets. There is plenty of space for children to play with a tree house and play area. There is a games room with table tennis, a cd player, toys and games where children can make lots of noise and not disturb the grown ups We also have an indoor, heated swimming pool.

The simple exterior belies the space inside. Through the heavy pitch pine door is a stone flagged entrance hall. The washing machine and boiler are in cupboards in the hall. To the right there is a double bedroom with a king size bed. The en-suite bathroom has a large double - ended bath.

A short passageway from the hall leads to two more rooms. One has twin beds that can be made into a super king size on request. The other has twin beds and an extra single bed. Each room has a bathroom with baths reached by means of a staircase with a gallery. The extra single bed is on the gallery. All the rooms can take an extra z bed or truckle bed.

The kitchen is fully equipped including a range gas cooker, microwave, dishwasher and fridge freezer. The cottage is centrally heated. There is an area through French doors at the back with seats and table for the summer evenings.

The main living area is very large with an open fire, a refectory table, capable of seating twelve, a stone flagged floor and two large sofas.

There is a television, DVD/CD player and video.

High Tipalt is an ideal cottage for large parties when more cottages are booked aswell as it can accomodate a lot of people.
