Jean and Bob Brown offer farmhouse accommodation set in the heart of Hadrian's Wall Country to visitors looking for that little bit extra in style and comfort. The 18thC farmhouse has been enlarged and modernised to high standards, whilst retaining many of its original features. The "non smoking" guestrooms are all en suite, and offer visitors a range of conveniences that ensure their stay will be enjoyable. Breakfast is taken in the elegant dining room. A charming beamed sitting room is available for guests' use. The house is situated in a beautiful wooded valley beside the Haltwhistle Burn close to a bridle way/footpath leading to Hadrian's Wall. The best-known and most visited Roman Sites are all within 5 miles of the house. The whole area abounds with history and is well described as England's last wilderness. Broomshaw Hill is 3/4 mile from the ancient market town of Haltwhistle. The town takes its name from a mixture of French and Norse - Haut Wessel - meaning high water. The church was first referred to in 1178 by King William the Lion of Scotland, and is well worth a visit in its own right, or by those possibly looking for their roots. In 1207 King John granted the town a weekly market which continues to this day. Arrangements can be made to collect visitors who are travelling by public transport. We can also arrange personal guided tours to Hadrian's Wall and related sites.
