The ancient town of Barnard Castle is close at hand and offers an open air market, ample shops, tea-rooms and an excellent swimming pool in the Sports Centre and the fine Bowes Museum. Ideally situated for either a walking holiday or touring the many attractions of Teesdale, the Yorkshire Dales, the Lake District and Hadrian's Wall, riding facilities also available nearby.
