This 2 bedroom character cottage cut into the hillside beneath Ireshope Moor still retains many original features and can be dated to the 17th C. The cottage offers cosy accommodation for the family and benefits from an original log burner complemented by electric storage heaters and underfloor heating. The cottage is tastefully furnished in a traditional style but still has modern comforts and children and pets are very welcome. The bedrooms are co-ordinated in spring linens and the bathroom is clean and fresh. For those warm summer evenings a BBQ and patio furniture are available within the courtyard garden.

Located in the sleepy village of Ireshopeburn the cottage has panoramic views over Weardale and is an ideal tranquil haven and yet local amenities can be found close by in Stanhope, Crook and Alston. Hillside Cottage has the added advantage of being on a bus route between Alston and Bishop Auckland which links to the main North/South main line rail link for that car free holiday.

Weardale is situated in the Durham Dales, a designated area of outstanding beauty and is centrally located-Cumbria, Yorkshire Dales, Northumbria and The Yorkshire Moors all within 1 hours drive. Local attractions include Killhope Mine, Alston-England’s highest market town, The Pennine Way, High Force Waterfall and Rockhope Nursery.

Just a little further away are the towns of Durham, Barnard Castle, Newcastle, Hexham, Carlisle and Penrith with all the added attractions they hold.

From the doorstep of the cottage you can wander into the village or take a more vigorous adventure into the local moors including the Pennine Way. Nearby there is also pony trekking and in the winter skiing can be found.
