The Historic Village of Pinner in the County of Middlesex |
 Pinner Parish Church |
Pinner is an historic village in the county of Middlesex only 20 minutes from Central London by Underground. Remnants of the primeval forrest (or weald) which once covered much of Middlesex still survive in nearby Harrow Weald, together with the remains of ancient earthworks known as "Grimsdyke".
The village was formerly part of the Parish and Manor of Harrow which was owned by the See of Canterbury until the Reformation in the 16th Century. The Headstone Manor House and outbuildings are nearby and have been restored as a Heritage Centre for the London Borough of Harrow. |
|
The Archbishops of Canterbury owned four large estates in Harrow. Three of these were in Pinner and part of one remains as a working farm today. The 13th Century Parish Church of St. John the Baptist, built of flintstone, is at the head of Pinner's historic High Street with it's picturesque old pubs, restaurants and shops. A May Fair is held every year under a Royal Charter granted in 1336. |
