Old Vicarage Coach House

2 Bedrooms    Sleeps 4    Children Welcome    No Pets    No Smoking

The Coach House was sympathetically converted into a cottage in 1991, providing spacious accommodation for four. It is situated in the Shropshire Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with easy access to a wide range of leisure, gastronomic and cultural sites.Built in 1842 the cottage was originally the coach house for Knowbury Vicarage. It stands at the edge of this quiet village with its semi-detached rival pubs. On the lower slopes of Titterstone Clee Hill, almost the highest point in the Shropshire Hills, it overlooks Ludlow and the hills beyond. Ludlow, only five miles away, is the gastronomic capital of the Welsh Marches with an array of fine restaurants, including three with Michelin star ratings, regular local produce markets and a vast food and drink fair every September. The town is lively with regular antique and flea markets as well as annual events. The best known of these is the Ludlow festival with its Shakespeare productions in the castle grounds, but there are also craft fairs and vintage vehicle rallies.Lovers of history can enjoy Ludlow's marvellously preserved and medieval centre and a number of other sites within thirty minutes drive. These include the magnificent World Heritage site of Ironbridge one of the cradles of the Industrial Revolution, Stokesay Castle, Croft Castle, Berrington Hall and Witley Court.Ludlow racecourse holds frequent horse race meetings. There are numerous golf courses in the area as well as the West Midlands Safari Park and The Severn Valley Steam Railway. The Coach House is ideally situated for walkers. The Shropshire way trail through the Shropshire Hills runs past the door. It leads to the summit of Titterstone Clee Hill with its breath taking views. Only a little further afield are Mortimer Forest, the Cardingmill Valley and Offa's Dyke PathOn the ground floor the Coach House offers a large, triple aspect (East, North a
