Reuben's Roost stands near the entrance to the farm and an ancient 200 year old sycamore tree. It has views overlooking the beautiful open countryside providing a good view of the dry stone walls which snake up the hills which form such a powerful image common across Derbyshire's countryside. Reubens has three bedrooms, a galleried sitting room, large bathroom and shower room; comfortably accommodating 7/8 people and a cot. The Bathroom, is situated mid way along the hall, is large and very warm having both a bath and a separate shower. The shower, a Mira, is fed off the main system and provides a generous flow of water! It also features a very unusual mirror, which has to be seen to be believed! The door to the bathroom has a stained glass feature and is particularly attractive. The Kitchen, is hand-made by a local craftsman in re-claimed pine. There is a microwave, cooker, toaster, kettle and fridge (all in matching dark green) and a Bosch dishwasher. On the wall is a particularly attractive and large antique pine cupboard, and an under lit antique plate rack. The Living and Dining Room. This is a stunning room measuring around 22' x 20'. Initially, the most striking feature is the large oak ceiling truss (the room is open to the eaves) and the additional sitting area up in the gallery. Downstairs in the main sitting area, is a large 3 piece suite (one of the chairs being a recliner). This is arranged around an old pine coffee table, a cast iron stove and an antique cabinet housing the TV and video. With beautiful pictures, a genuine old pine pew, a huge pitch pine table which seats eight with room to spare, and a particularly well worn butchers block, it really is a beautiful room. The floor has well worn old flagstones and a large rug in the living area. There is another door to the kitchen. The Gallery, is a perfect reading escape! There are two soft chairs, a coffee table and reading lamp. There is also a feature window with four separate arches opposite the gallery, which looks into one of the bedrooms. Bedroom 1. Located at the other end of the hall on the ground floor this rbedroom consists of a very thick carved old pine double bed and a single bed. There is a wash-hand basin and vanity unit in the corner of the room, a wardrobe area and antique chest of drawers and mirror. Bedroom 2. is situated upstairs on the left is a large double bedroom, partially in the roof space (with lot's of pretty angles). It is beautifully decorated and furnished and with it's own two-seater sofa. There is a chest of drawers and a wardrobe under the eaves and a bedside cabinet each side of the bed. The floor has a rug and polished floorboards. The large window looks across to our only neighbour, a farm about 200 yards away. Bedroom 3. is situated opposite bedroom 2, is very unusual, with a roof truss in the middle of the room. This effectively splits the room into two and on the far side is the feature window which, as we have already mentioned, can be seen from the living room downstairs. Through this window, you can look down into the living area and across, through another truss and over into the gallery. This room can accommodate two or three single beds (depending upon your requirements) and is always popular with children, who all seem to love it for its unusual attributes. All of the cottages have luxury fittings, with gas log burning stoves, CD players, TV, DVD and video player with the use of a video library. dishwasher, microwave, coffee maker, BBQ, Duvets and linen are provided. There is a central utility area with a telephone, chest freezer, washing machines, dryers and airers, cots and highchairs. Outside there are individual decking areas with garden furniture and barbeques for those long summer evenings. There is a mown playing field directly infront of the decking areas which is ideal and safe for children. There is a new Games room with a pool table. Pets welcome by arrangement with a kennel and compound area for dogs to dry off after a long walk. The farm grounds extend to over 20 acres and is ideal for children to play and picnic in. There are pet sheep, ducks and chickens. During lambing time the children often help feed the lambs and collecting eggs is a must for everyone. Note bookings are from Friday to Friday.
