The cottage can be seen to the left of the main house. It has a combined living room and kitchen at the front, which enjoys splendid views across the River Colne and Alresford Creek estuary. There is a pretty double bedroom and en-suite bathroom. There is a utility room that has a washing machine, iron and ironing board, vacuum cleaner and room to dry damp clothes. Creek Lodge has a large landscaped garden with ponds and flowerbeds, which visitors are welcome to use - there is plenty of garden furniture. The grounds run down to Alresford Creek and there is direct access to a footpath along the river and creek. The area is designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest and is excellent for birdwatchers and walkers. The historic town of Colchester, Britain's oldest recorded town, is four miles away, with its many interesting buildings and museums and a pleasant pedestrianised shopping centre. Nearby are the pretty riverside towns of Wivenhoe & Brightlingsea and further afield there is Dedham in the midst of Constable country. The sandy beaches of Clacton, Walton and Frinton are 15 miles away and, for keen gardeners, close by at Elmstead Market are the beautiful gardens of Beth Chatto.
